What to expect

• It runs for 6 days. Check the organizer's schedule for how many sessions a day and whether rest time is built in.

What to pack

• Gis (two if you can) and a separate no-gi kit of rash guards and shorts or spats
• Enough training clothes for 6 days on the mat, or a plan to do laundry
• Flip-flops or slides for walking off the mat
• Mouthguard, finger tape and nail clippers
• A water bottle and a bag to keep worn kit apart from clean kit

Wash your kit after every session: skin infections such as ringworm and staph spread fast when many people share one mat.
