Alliance Coconut Grove is at 3743 Grand Avenue, Miami, FL 33133, in the heart of Coconut Grove. It is an affiliate of Alliance, the team founded in 1993 by Romero "Jacaré" Cavalcanti, Fabio Gurgel and Alexandre "Gigi" Paiva.
A sister school, Alliance Jiu Jitsu Brickell, is at 1793 SW 3rd Avenue (33129). Business listings point the Brickell school to the Coconut Grove website.
Both schools teach jiu-jitsu to children and adults, with separate classes for each group. Their stated philosophy is "On the mat we are all equal". The schools also say every student should come away from class having learned something, win or lose. Neither school's public pages name the coaching staff or publish a split between gi and no-gi, women's or competition classes. Ask about these when you book if they matter to you.
Business listings for the Brickell location show it open from early morning to evening Monday to Friday, with a Saturday morning-to-early-afternoon session, and closed on Sundays.
Visiting and first class
- Free first class: the Coconut Grove site offers a free first class, with online sign-up.
- Drop-ins: we could not find a published drop-in price, so contact the school before you visit.
- Which location: check which of the two schools your class is at when you book, because they share a website.
Details above were checked on the academy site and business listings in October 2026. Confirm the current schedule with the school before you go.
