Alliance Jiu Jitsu Atlanta is the team's American headquarters. It is at 5290 Roswell Road, Suite A170, in Sandy Springs, just north of the Atlanta city line (GA 30342).

The school is led by Romero "Jacaré" Cavalcanti, one of Alliance's founders. The academy says he is one of only six people to receive a black belt from Rolls Gracie. Alliance was formed in 1993, when Jacaré, Fabio Gurgel and Alexandre "Gigi" Paiva merged their academies into one competition team. Wikipedia lists Atlanta as Alliance's global headquarters, alongside the São Paulo academy led by Gurgel and the Rio de Janeiro academy led by Paiva.

Day-to-day teaching is shared by a large staff. The academy names Professor Leo as head instructor for intermediate and advanced classes, alongside Professors DJ, Rick, Jeffery and Yusef. Coach Doc runs the kids program.

The academy teaches both gi and no-gi. Kids and teens are grouped by age, at 5 to 7, 8 to 12 and 13 to 15, and adults (16 and over) train in level-based classes. The school also runs holiday camps for younger children.

The facility covers more than 8,000 square feet, with three separate mat areas, renovated locker rooms with showers, a lounge and coffee area, and a pro shop. Members describe classes six days a week, in the morning, at lunchtime and in the evening, plus Sunday open mats.

Visiting and first class

  • Free trial: the academy offers a free trial class with no experience, gear or fitness needed. Its about page also advertises three free intro classes.
  • Drop-ins: one visitor review describes no mat fee for a drop-in and a loaner gi, but the academy does not publish a drop-in policy, so confirm before you come.
  • Schedule: the timetable is on the academy's schedule page.

Details above were checked on the academy site and Wikipedia in October 2026. Confirm the current schedule with the school before you go.
