Alliance Jiu Jitsu San Francisco, also listed as Alliance BJJ SF Bay, is on the second floor at 1625 Bush Street, Suite 5, San Francisco (94109).

The head instructor is Lucio Muramatsu, a fourth-degree black belt with 14 years at the rank. He started jiu-jitsu in 1998, aged 12, and came up at Alliance's São Paulo headquarters under Adriano Pires and Fabio Gurgel. He has competed in more than 100 tournaments, and he holds a kinesiology degree and a master's in exercise biochemistry. Black belt Nayo Mouton-Fuentes, a San Francisco native, also teaches. He started with judo and Japanese jiu-jitsu at City College of San Francisco and trained jiu-jitsu under Clovis Silva at the 11th Street dojo. He received his black belt from Silva and Muramatsu in April 2019.

Classes run Monday to Saturday:

  • Adult jiu-jitsu (gi): all levels, with midday and evening slots and a dedicated sparring block on Mondays and Wednesdays.
  • No-gi: on Thursdays and Fridays, and in the Saturday open session.
  • Kids: four age groups, at 3 to 5 (Baby Eagles), 6 to 9 (Little Eagles), 10 to 12 and 13 to 15. Classes run on weekday afternoons and Saturdays.
  • Private lessons: 45-minute sessions, with discounts on packages.

The school does not list a women's class or a separate competition team.

The academy publishes its prices. Adult gi-and-no-gi membership is about $250 a month with no contract and no registration or cancellation fee, and kids' membership is lower. There is a 10% discount for law enforcement, college students and families.
