Escola Delariva CT is Ricardo De La Riva's own academy, at Club Olympico, Rua Pompeu Loureiro 116, in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro. It heads the Escola Delariva network, which lists around 100 official schools across Brazil, the Americas, Europe, Asia and Oceania. The school has also been known as De La Riva BJJ HQ, and under the name Equipe 1.
Ricardo de la Riva Goded teaches the classes himself. He began jiu-jitsu in 1980 under Carlson Gracie. In the late 1980s he beat Royler Gracie, a win that drew attention to the open guard now named after him: the De La Riva guard, a hook around the outside of the opponent's lead leg. In 2017 Robson and Reyson Gracie promoted him to seventh-degree red and black belt. The network's school listing now shows him as an eighth-degree coral belt.
The school lists jiu-jitsu only, and we found no published kids', women's or no-gi classes at this unit. A second Copacabana school in the network, Escola Delariva Copacabana II, is at a different address with a different instructor. If you are looking for Ricardo himself, check that you have the CT address.
Classes run Monday to Friday, with no weekend sessions listed:
- Early morning: a class every weekday.
- Late afternoon: a class on some weekdays.
- Evening: a class every weekday.
Visiting and first class
- Trial class: the school's page does not mention a trial or drop-in policy. Contact the academy by phone, WhatsApp or email, all listed on its page, before you visit.
- Network: if you train at an official Delariva school elsewhere, the network listing is the place to find a school near you.
Details above were checked on the Escola Delariva site, FloGrappling and BJJEE in October 2026. Confirm the current schedule with the school before you go.
