Gracie Barra Tooting is at Unit 1, Bank Chambers, 14-16 Mitcham Road, London SW17 9NA, a short walk from Tooting Broadway. London has several Gracie Barra schools, each named after its own neighbourhood rather than the city.

The head coach, known on the mat as Professor Tom, is a certified black belt instructor with more than 14 years of training and teaching. The academy's own site does not give his full name or lineage, and we could not confirm either from an official source.

The school teaches adults, kids and teens, and runs women-only classes. Its curriculum covers self-defence, sport jiu-jitsu and competition, from beginner to advanced. According to its published timetable, as summarised by that listing, the adult program includes:

  • GB1 fundamentals: gi classes, including a lunchtime slot.
  • GB2: intermediate and advanced classes in the evening.
  • No-gi: dedicated no-gi sessions.
  • Competition training: for students who compete.
  • Live training: evening open-mat rounds, including a women-only session.

Kids train in age-banded groups, with GB Kids, an advanced juniors class and GB Teens in the late afternoon and early evening. Adult classes run at lunchtime and in the evening.

Visiting and first class

  • Intro session: the academy's site offers an introductory session for new students, with online sign-up.
  • Drop-ins: a gym listing describes the school as drop-in friendly, but the academy does not publish a drop-in price, so contact it first. Gracie Barra says members can train at any official school.
  • Timetable: the public and members' timetables are linked from the academy site.

Details above were checked on the academy site and a third-party gym listing in October 2026. Confirm the current timetable with the school before you go.
