Gracie Barra Citrus Park Tampa is at 6176 Gunn Highway, Tampa, FL 33625, in the Citrus Park area of northwest Tampa. Its website brands it simply as Gracie Barra Tampa.
The head instructor is Ivan Rocha, whom the academy describes as a third-degree black belt with 24 years of jiu-jitsu practice. He spent almost seven years in Milan, Italy, where he founded his own jiu-jitsu team and opened several branches. His 2013 competition season included titles at the IBJJF London Open, in both gi and no-gi, and at the IBJJF Munich Open and the Milano Challenge. He also competed in MMA, in the 60 kg division of the 2012 Italian MMA Championship.
The adult jiu-jitsu program follows Gracie Barra's tiered curriculum and is open to complete beginners and experienced grapplers:
- Adult program: four tiers, starting with the entry level for new students.
- GB2: the second level, with higher-level techniques and drills for the path from white to black belt.
- GB3: the final stage, for students moving from blue to black belt, with hour-long live training sessions.
- Kids jiu-jitsu: structured classes built around discipline, focus, fitness and self-defense.
- Muay Thai: striking classes for adults and for kids from age 7, with kickboxing and boxing work.
- Private lessons: one-to-one sessions, including with the black belt staff.
The school does not list a separate no-gi or competition class.
With Muay Thai on the same timetable, students can add striking without joining a second gym.
