What is the Arm-In Guillotine?
The arm-in guillotine wraps the neck while one of the opponent’s arms is trapped inside the clasp. It often finishes a bit slower than a high-elbow arm-out version, but it gives stronger control, safer top transitions, and natural pathways into D’arce and anaconda attacks when the choke does not close.
Setup
- Capture the head and near arm from a sprawl, snap-down, or guard entry.
- Lock a gable, figure-four, or palm-to-palm grip around head and arm together.
- Fall to closed or butterfly guard, or keep top chest pressure if finishing from the front headlock.
Execution
- Pinch the elbow of the choking arm toward your ribs.
- Expand your chest and angle slightly toward the trapped-arm side.
- Use legs to break posture or hips to tip them if finishing on top.
Finishing
- Squeeze with connection through the trapped shoulder line.
- If the choke stalls, transition to D’arce or anaconda based on how the arm sits.
- Sweep to mount when they post to defend and the neck opens.
