FAQ

ADCC World Championship men compete at -66, -77, -88, -99 and +99 kg, and women at -55, -65 and +65 kg, with an absolute division on top. The ADCC Opens use nine men’s and eight women’s classes, printed in kg and lb. Every table below is checked against our data, with the matching IBJJF no-gi class next to each limit.

ADCC World Championship and Trials weight classes

ADCC lists these divisions on its 2026 Trials event pages, which qualify athletes for the World Championship. ADCC prints kilograms only.

Women at the World Championship

Three classes for women, listed on the same 2026 Trials pages.

The World Championship also runs an absolute division, as ADCC’s 2026 announcement states. The ADCC pages we could read do not publish weigh-in times or a weight allowance for the World Championship, so this page does not give one.

ADCC Open weigh-ins

From the ADCC Official support page and the weight-class chart. They apply to the ADCC Opens, not the World Championship.

Kids and teens have their own weight tables in the same PDF, split by age group (6 and under, 7–8, 9–10, 11–12, 13–14 and 15–17). Read them in the official chart, linked below.

  • Weigh-ins are mandatory for every competitor and are held the day before the event
  • Limited same-day options: kids and juveniles weigh in at 6:00 AM, and weigh-ins close at 6:15 AM. Adults must weigh in no later than 2 hours before their division starts
  • A 0.5 kg (1.1 lb) allowance is permitted for all weigh-ins
  • Adults and masters show a valid ID or passport. Kids and teens show a valid ID, passport or birth certificate
  • Absolute divisions are adult only, 18 and over

How ADCC classes line up with IBJJF no-gi

IBJJF no-gi classes have limits like 73.5 and 79.5 kg, and IBJJF weighs no-gi athletes in their uniform (see IBJJF weight classes). ADCC uses round kilogram limits. No ADCC limit on this page matches an IBJJF no-gi limit, so making weight for one does not tell you where you land in the other. The comparison column also assumes you weigh exactly the ADCC limit: the 0.5 kg ADCC Opens allowance and the IBJJF uniform can each push you one class up.

The biggest gap is at the top. ADCC -99 kg and ADCC Open -100 kg both put you over IBJJF no-gi Super Heavy (97.5 kg), so at those weights you are an IBJJF Ultra Heavy. For the rule differences, read ADCC rules explained and IBJJF vs ADCC rules.

Key Takeaways

  • ADCC Worlds: men -66, -77, -88, -99, +99 kg. Women -55, -65, +65 kg. Plus an absolute division.
  • ADCC Opens: nine men’s classes (-55 to +100 kg) and eight women’s (-50 to +80 kg), printed in kg and lb.
  • ADCC Opens allow 0.5 kg (1.1 lb) at every weigh-in.
  • No ADCC limit matches an IBJJF no-gi limit, so check both charts before you cut weight.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the ADCC weight classes?
At the ADCC World Championship and its Trials, men compete at -66 kg, -77 kg, -88 kg, -99 kg and +99 kg, and women at -55 kg, -65 kg and +65 kg. The World Championship also has an absolute division. ADCC prints these limits in kilograms only.
What are the ADCC Open weight classes?
ADCC Opens use more classes. Men: -55, -60, -65, -70, -76, -83, -91, -100 and +100 kg. Women: -50, -55, -60, -65, -70, -75, -80 and +80 kg. The official chart prints each limit in pounds too, from 121 lb to over 221 lb for men and from 110 lb to over 176 lb for women.
Is there a weight allowance at ADCC Opens?
Yes. The ADCC Official support page says a 0.5 kg (1.1 lb) allowance is permitted for all weigh-ins.
When do you weigh in at an ADCC Open?
Weigh-ins are mandatory and are held the day before. If you cannot attend, limited same-day options exist: kids and juveniles weigh in at 6:00 AM (closing at 6:15 AM), and adults no later than 2 hours before their division starts. Adults and masters bring a valid ID or passport. Kids and teens bring a valid ID, passport or birth certificate.
Do masters have different ADCC weight classes?
No. The ADCC Opens chart uses one table for adults and Masters 1 to 5 (30+ to 50+ in five-year steps).
Can teens enter the ADCC Open adult weight classes?
Yes. The ADCC rules page says competitors aged 15 and over may register in the adult weight divisions. The absolute stays 18 and over.
Who can enter the ADCC Open absolute?
Only adults. The official chart says absolute divisions are offered exclusively in the adult category and every absolute competitor must be 18 or older.
How do ADCC weight classes compare to IBJJF no-gi?
They do not line up. ADCC uses round kilogram limits and IBJJF no-gi uses limits like 79.5 kg. An athlete who weighs exactly 77 kg makes ADCC -77 kg and IBJJF no-gi Middle (79.5 kg). At 99 kg you make ADCC -99 kg but are over IBJJF no-gi Super Heavy (97.5 kg), so you land in Ultra Heavy.
