10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Houston is the official 10th Planet school for the city of Houston, at 3420 Rusk St, just east of downtown. Owner and head instructor Carlos Ruiz started training in 2015 and runs the school with a family-and-friends staff (Carlos Ruiz Jr., Angela Ruiz, Roderick Henderson and Zach Lacey) that the academy describes as bilingual.

Training is no-gi only, built on Eddie Bravo's 10th Planet system, with separate programs for kids aged 4 to 13 and for adults.

Visiting and first class

• First class: free, booked through the academy site.
• Hours: weekday classes run in the evening, 6 to 9 pm, plus Saturday morning from 8 am to noon. The academy is closed on Sundays.
• Drop-ins and open mats: the academy site lists neither, so message the school before you visit.
• Other 10th Planet schools nearby: 10th Planet New Caney in Porter, north of the city.

Details above were checked on the academy and 10th Planet HQ sites in October 2026. Confirm the current schedule with the school before you go.
