Cicero Costha's headquarters (matriz) is at Rua Lino Coutinho 426 in Ipiranga, São Paulo. It leads a team with affiliated academies across Brazil and abroad.
The founder and head instructor is Cícero Costha, a fourth-degree black belt. Born in Alagoas and raised in Ipiranga, he was promoted from white to brown belt by Rocian Gracie and to black belt by Marco Barbosa. His lineage runs through Roberto Godoi, Waldomiro Perez and Marcelo Behring to Rickson and Hélio Gracie. As a competitor, he won featherweight bronze at the 2004 IBJJF World Championship and silver at the 2005 Brazilian Nationals.
After opening his own team, Costha founded the social project Lutando Pelo Bem (PSLPB, "Fighting for Good"). Athletes who could not afford to train lived at the academy. The first "Casa dos Lutadores" ("Fighters' House") had a 50-square-metre mat and three training sessions a day, and more houses followed, including one for the women's team. The project produced the Miyao brothers, Hiago George, Jonas Andrade and Tiago Barros, and the academy's site also features the late Leandro Lo. It says the Miyao brothers and Lo have won more than fifteen world titles between them.
Programs listed by the academy:
- Adult jiu-jitsu: levelled classes from beginner to advanced, in the gi and no-gi, with IBJJF belt grading.
- Competition: competition preparation and high-volume training.
- Kids: classes from age 4 in age groups, with discipline and anti-bullying content and a kids' belt system.
- Seminars: adult and kids' seminars led by Costha.
The site does not publish a current class timetable for the headquarters. Its Instagram account (@cicerocosthamatriz) is the most direct channel for schedules.
