Gracie Barra Hoppers Crossing is at Unit 2, 16-17 Hammer Court, Hoppers Crossing (VIC 3029), in Melbourne's outer west, in the City of Wyndham. Gracie Barra calls it the only Premium certified Gracie Barra school in Victoria. It is a suburban school rather than an inner-city gym, so allow travel time from the CBD.

The school has a large instructor team. All 11 coaches hold Gracie Barra's instructor certification (ICP), first aid and working-with-children checks. The two black belts are Ihsan Rehman, who grew up in Pakistan, trained in Kyokushin, karate and taekwondo, and started jiu-jitsu in 2015, and James Ward, a Sydney-born former rugby league player and qualified rugby league coach. They are backed by four brown belts:

  • Kerrie Marshall: an active competitor who started in 2018 after moving from New Zealand.
  • Sana Kamal: came to jiu-jitsu from karate.
  • Miro Roma: a regular competitor whose game centres on open guard and pressure passing.
  • Made Widiana: from Bali, with more than 12 years in jiu-jitsu.

Several of the blue belt coaches specialise in the kids program.

Classes follow the Gracie Barra ladder:

  • GBK: kids classes, with a kids area off the mat.
  • GB1: fundamentals, for beginners.
  • GB2: advanced classes.
  • GB3: the expert program for senior belts.

Gracie Barra's page does not list a separate women's or no-gi program.

The timetable is evening-only on weekdays, Monday to Thursday, with a Saturday morning session. The school is closed on Fridays and Sundays.
