Gustavo Galvão is a Brazilian third-degree jiu-jitsu black belt and the head instructor of Atos Jiu Jitsu School Barcelona. He is the brother of André Galvão, the five-time IBJJF black belt world champion and 2011 ADCC double gold medallist who co-founded Atos. His Instagram covers teaching, training and life at the Barcelona academy.

Background

Galvão was born in São Sebastião, São Paulo state, Brazil. He started judo at 9 and later trained jiu-jitsu for several years under Luiz Carlos Dagmar "Careca". He earned his black belt under André Galvão and Fernando Tererê. Both names also appear in André's own lineage, since sources disagree on whether Tererê or Dagmar promoted André to black belt.

Atos Barcelona

Galvão moved to Barcelona in 2010. His academy bio credits him with helping jiu-jitsu grow in Spain. He leads the programmes at Atos Jiu Jitsu School Barcelona, and the school says he has coached two world champions and four European champions. The academy's website still uses the Atos name. In February 2026 Atos announced the release of André, its co-founder, after allegations of misconduct, and several affiliates later cut ties; we have not found a statement on whether the Barcelona school's affiliation has changed. See André's profile for details.

What we could not verify

The academy bio lists no competition titles for Galvão himself, and we found no independent record of his results, so this page does not list any.
