Kron Gracie is a Brazilian-American black belt, the son of Rickson Gracie and grandson of Hélio Gracie. He won ADCC gold at −77 kg in 2013, submitted Shinya Aoki at Metamoris and later fought in the UFC, where he submitted Alex Caceres in his 2019 debut. His MMA record stands at 5–3.

Background and lineage

Kron was born in Rio de Janeiro and grew up mostly in Los Angeles. He trained under his father and with Gracie Humaitá, and BJJ Heroes also notes time with the Ribeiro brothers. He won the IBJJF Worlds at purple belt (2006) and brown belt (2007) and several Pan titles at those belts. Rickson promoted him to black belt in 2008, when he was 19. For MMA he trained with Cesar Gracie's team alongside Nick and Nate Diaz.

Competition highlights

  • ADCC: bronze at −77 kg in 2011 and gold in 2013 in Beijing, where he beat Garry Tonon by rear naked choke and Otávio Sousa by guillotine in the final.
  • IBJJF: European Open champion in 2009, Pan silver in 2009 and World silver in 2011, losing the final 9–2 to Gilbert Burns.
  • Metamoris: an armbar win over Otávio Sousa in the gi at Metamoris 1 (2012) and a guillotine on Shinya Aoki in no-gi at Metamoris 2 (2013).

He lost his first black belt match at the 2008 Worlds to Sérgio Moraes, and Marcelo Garcia beat him at both ADCC 2009 (guillotine) and ADCC 2011 (points).

Style and signature techniques

BJJ Heroes lists closed guard as his favourite position. His finishes are mostly chokes. The guillotine is his top submission on BJJ Heroes, followed by other chokes, the armbar and the rear naked choke. In MMA every win has been a submission: an armbar, a triangle and three rear naked chokes from back control.

MMA career

Kron won his debut in Real 1 in 2014 by armbar, then went 3–0 in Rizin with a triangle on Asen Yamamoto and rear naked chokes on Hideo Tokoro and Tatsuya Kawajiri. He joined the UFC and choked out Alex Caceres in the first round in February 2019, earning Performance of the Night. He then lost decisions to Cub Swanson (Fight of the Night, 2019) and Charles Jourdain (2023) and was knocked out by Bryce Mitchell in December 2024. The UFC released him in June 2025.
