Fernando "Coleman" Araujo, as Jungle BJJ's trainer page names him, is the founder and head coach of Jungle BJJ in Prague. The academy lists him as a fifth-degree black belt recognised by the IBJJF, with more than 30 years in jiu-jitsu, and he still competes in IBJJF masters divisions.

Background and Jungle BJJ

Before moving to the Czech Republic, Araujo spent a year in Oslo, where he taught classes and seminars around Norway. He arrived in Prague in 2006 and started teaching at a local gym. Jungle BJJ's history page says practitioners of other martial arts came to watch the new "Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu" classes, and many stayed to cross-train or train only jiu-jitsu. That group became Jungle BJJ. It now has nine schools in Europe and Russia and receives support from the City of Prague and Prague 7. The academy describes its culture as "train hard and have fun".

Araujo teaches beginner and advanced classes. His black belts include Daniel "Ragnar" Holý, promoted in November 2023 according to Holý's Ragnar Academy site, and Eldar "Yakuza" Rafigaev, whom BJJ Heroes says he promoted around mid-2017. Holý's creator page is Ragnar BJJ.

Lineage

BJJ Heroes' profile of Rafigaev traces Araujo's line from Carlos Gracie through Carlson Gracie and Francisco Albuquerque.
