Banana Split
Compression submission that spreads the hips using truck or crucifix-like control — high risk and ruleset sensitive.
joint lock
Overview
#Setup
- Secure truck or related control that isolates both legs.
- Control the hips so neither leg can reunite easily.
- Create a compression line across the groin and inner thighs before finishing.
#Execution
- Separate the legs slowly while keeping upper-body control.
- Use your hips and grips together — do not yank the knees apart.
- Stop the moment your partner taps or the position becomes unstable.
#Finishing
- Prefer legal exits such as back takes or calf-slicer awareness when rules forbid the finish.
- Abandon the split if the truck dissolves rather than chasing with arm strength.
⚠️
Safety Note
Banana splits can injure the hips and groin quickly and are ruleset sensitive. Never rip this finish in training; treat it primarily as recognition and control awareness.

- Re-secure the control position if the submission breaks
- Advance position when the defense opens a better pin
