Truck
Twister-side control that folds the opponent’s legs and hips — a platform for calf slicers, back takes, and twister entries.
Overview
The truck controls the opponent from the side with their legs folded and stacked, often after a back-take scramble or turtle ride. You wrap and pin the legs while controlling the upper body enough to threaten calf slicers, crawl to the back, or (where legal) twister-style spinal attacks.
Position Flow
How to Enter
- Ride turtle and fold one leg across as they turn
- Enter from back control when hooks fail but you keep hip control
- Transition from crucifix or saddle scrambles that stack the legs
How to Exit
- Calf slicer when the figure-four on the legs seals
- Back control when they expose the far shoulder
- Crucifix or mount transitions if the legs free but the upper body stays pinned
- Saddle if the entanglement shifts toward a single leg
Key Controls
- Legs wrapped/stacked so their hips cannot square
- Upper-body connection that stops them from turning into you
- Hip pressure that keeps the folded legs trapped
Vulnerabilities
- Rolling escapes that free the stacked legs
- Hand fighting that peels your upper-body control
- Recomposition to half or open guard if you abandon the fold too early
Ideal When
You have side/back hip control with their legs already crossing or stacking and want submissions beyond a standard back take.
OffenseOffense
Goals
- Keep the legs folded while you choose calf slicer or back
- Punish framing with tighter hip pressure
Key Techniques
- Calf slicer
- Back takes / seatbelt when the shoulder opens
- Twister entries only where rulesets allow
Pro Tips
- Control the hip fold before hunting the neck
- Know your ruleset — twister-family finishes are often restricted
Common Mistakes
- Loosening the leg wrap to chase a loose RNC
- Spinal cranks in gyms/rulesets that forbid them
DefenseDefense
Goals
- Uncross the legs and square the hips
- Turn into the opponent before the calf slicer seals
Key Techniques
- Roll and peel the wrapping legs
- Hand fight upper-body grips and sit through
- Recompose to turtle or half guard once hips free
Pro Tips
- Free the stacked legs first — neck defense alone is late
- Do not straighten into a tighter slicer
Common Mistakes
- Turning away and offering a cleaner back take
- Posting hands in ways that load the calf
Variations
Classic truck from turtle rideTruck to calf slicerTruck to back control
Key Concepts
- Truck is hip-and-leg control that feeds leg attacks and back takes
- Ruleset awareness is part of the position
- If the fold dies, return to back or side control instead of inventing cranks
Recommended Drills
- Turtle ride to truck fold entries
- Calf-slicer threats without hard finishes
- Truck to back-control transitions

Summary
Truck folds and stacks the legs from a side/back ride, then threatens calf slicers or back takes. Keep the hip fold honest, respect spinal-attack rules, and exit to clearer control when the wrap loosens.
