Rules for this event

Waco International Open IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship 2026 runs under the IBJJF Rule Book v6.1 (June 2024) as a no-gi tournament. Below are the weight classes, illegal moves and weigh-in rules that apply, checked against the official IBJJF charts on 2026-10-21.

No-gi weight classes

Each figure is the most you can weigh on the scale, in your no-gi uniform. Masters 1 to 7 use the adult table. The juvenile table is the one IBJJF uses at open events; at the majors some juvenile divisions use a separate chart, so check the official event page. Work out your division with the calculator in IBJJF weight classes.

Illegal moves by belt

In no-gi, adult brown and black belts get the most permissive column (heel hooks and knee reaping included); masters brown and black belts keep the gi column. Juveniles follow the white belt column at every juvenile belt. The columns follow the rule book; not every event runs every belt (some no-gi events start at blue belt), so check the official page for the divisions on offer. Check any move against your division with the IBJJF rules checker or get the printable illegal moves chart.

  • Bending fingers backward
  • Belt-grip throw onto the head vs single leg
  • Suplex landing on head or neck

The full table by belt and age is in IBJJF illegal moves by belt and age.

Match length

Adult matches run 5 minutes at white belt up to 10 minutes at black belt; masters matches are shorter. The minutes for every division and how points are scored are in IBJJF match times and points.

Weigh-in

No-gi athletes weigh in wearing their no-gi uniform, right before their first match. There is one attempt, and missing weight disqualifies you from the division. Read the uniform rules in IBJJF gi and uniform rules and the limits in IBJJF weight classes.
